About CPT

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a short-term therapy specifically desgined to treat trauma symptoms.  CPT is a cognitive beahvioral therapy, so it focuses on the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CPT focuses on the impact that the traumatic experience had on your views of yourself, others, and the world. The treatment can be done with or without in depth discussion of the trauma.  CPT prioritizes trauma related content and, therefore, treatment typically focuses primarily on trauma related symptoms.  Additionally, CPT has specific goals for each session and includes practice opportunities (homework) between sessions.
